Stormin' Norman: Adcox Family Chills in Former Hometown

To celebrate my upcoming birthday, we went on a family outing to Norman. We had planned on going to the Tulsa Zoo, but we had to change our plans after the Saturday thunderstorms rolled in to town. So at the last minute we decided to go to Norman.

Derek and I get all weepy and reminiscent when we drive to Norman, and immediately start commenting that it feels like we are finally going home. It's where we met, home to good memories and of course, Sooner football. What do you think of Derek's Stoops-inspired visor?

Our trip down memory lane began with lunch at Bison Witches. The potato soup totally hit the spot on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Van went on a carb overload, gorging himself on any and all bread around us.

Then we headed to the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Derek and I were hesitant of how well Van would respond to the exhibits, but he loved it. He walked around yelling "WHOA," (kind of like Joey on Blossom) pointing at everything from dinosaurs to other kids.

And finally, we didn't leave without enjoying Happy Hour at Classic 50s, where we sipped on Crimson and Cream slushes while noshing on Cajun Fries. Van figured out how to drink out of a straw! The slush was too tasty to pass up!

It was a great day. I am truly blessed.

Don't Let My Mom Near Me with Scissors!

Van had his first haircut today. His stylist? Yours truly. Granted, I probably should have road tested my snipping skills before setting forth on my son's first haircut, but we made it through the process unscarred. Literally, I didn't cut him. Which is much better than the first time I cut his fingernails. Derek still won't let me near him with the clippers.

Derek calls the cut Beatles-inspired, I call it the best I could do while my son was wiggling around and screaming. And he did scream... the entire time. I am thinking paying a professional wouldn't be a bad idea in the future!

O Happy Day

"That's fierce."
- Christian, Project Runway Season 4

Have you ever had a day where nothing seems to go right? That was my day today. (Let's not talk about the neighbor who was using my Wi-Fi signal to download copyrighted material that caused the cable company to threaten turning off my internet signal.) BUT THEN, I found out the new season of Project Runway starts in July! It brightened my day, so I thought I would pass along the cheer to you. Nothing rocks my socks like Tim Gunn!

Happy Anniversary to Me!

Today marks my one-year anniversary of blogging. Click here to see where it all began!

There's No Place Like Home

Home! And this is my room, and you're all here. And I'm not gonna leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all, and - oh, Auntie Em - there's no place like home.
-Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz

I am home, and I'll say that 11 days was a long time to be away from home. Van still remembered me, but after a brief moment of glee-complete with a big smile and kicking feet-his attention was back to other airport goers. I was glad to receive the training, but now I am ready to start working on my new job... from home! Maggie and the cats are going to be very confused.

Other highlights... I used my spare time in Florida to get up to speed on Grey's Anatomy. Darn you Rose! We also put some items in the great Blais garage sale that netted us $200 this weekend. Also, Van loves his new CD, Barenaked Ladies' SNACKTIME. He has been dancing to it for two weeks! I'll try to post some video...

Beach Blues

No matter the beauty, the beach is boring without friends or family.
