I have been fuming about this magazine cover for a week now. Much like Jessica's questioning of Jessica Alba's claim to fame, this cover of US Weekly just has me flabbergasted.
First of all, pregnancy is different for everyone. But there is one truth: it is really hard on your body. And as if women weren't bombarded with enough unrealistic images, the new message for women having babies is that you should be bikini-ready in five months!
And the sad thing is, with all the emphasis on her body, you could actually be missing a genuinely interesting story. Apparently, Trista struggled with infertility and pregnancy complications, something that could help educate readers on very important issues. But instead, you get a bikini thrown in your face and a nice plug for Trista's diaper bag business.
I'm just disgusted.

What? You don't look like that in a bikini? Could have fooled me!
The funny thing is that it's unrealistic whether or not she even had a baby. I haven't had a baby and I won't be bikini-ready in five months. It's unrealistic for ANY WOMAN. Especially those that work all day and cook and clean all night and can't afford a personal trainer.
I felt the same way you feel after Heidi Klum was on the runway, what, 3 WEEKS after having her baby for a Victoria's Secret lingerie show?
Ugh...
Also, I read an article this weekend about how Jamie Lee Curtis felt she was too fat and barely sober when she posed her "Real woman" body on Oprah a few years ago. Now she's all thin and telling people she was fat and no one should be happy looking like her.
She was one I actually respected and felt like I could relate to...whatever...
I saw this magazine at Target and rolled my eyes. The ONLY celeb that I have ever heard being honest about post baby weight was Sarah Jessica Parker who said she had to hire a nanny and a pilates instructor.
Trista sucks. There are women in this world that are lucky enough to not have the stretch mark gene. (I was not one of those.) What they didn't say about Trista was that she was in amazing shape BEFORE she got pregnant, and she stayed in shape WHILE she was pregnant. So it is not entirely unrealistic for her to look like that AFTER the baby. Oh, how I can dream to look like that.
I don't know why everyone is bagging on Trista. I mean women like she and I just can't help it if we look that good in a bathing suit all the time. Stop hatin'...
